Wrestling News Wire Hall Of Fame Class Of 2013: Bruno Sammartino

Within wrestling circles, no name carries more respect. Many believe without him, VInce McMahon Sr's withdrawl of Capitol Wrestling (WWWF) from the National Wrestling Alliance would of flopped, since he gave the "rebel" promotion legitimacy in a era where you didnt dare double cross the powerful NWA Mafia and live to tell about it. His 8 year reign as WWWF Champion still stands as the longest male World Heavyweight Championship reign in history. He is considered one of that last true shooters in this business. Despite being one of the last legitimately tough guys in pro wrestling (he even beat Muhammad Ali in what is considered the 1st ever MMA fight and knocked out Rooster Fleming of the Pittsburgh Steelers), I can tell you from personal experience that he is one of the kindest people that you could ever meet. So with that in mind, I am proud to do what Vince McMahon doesn't have the "grapefruits" to do and induct Bruno Sammartino into the Wrestling News Wire Hall Of Fame Class Of 2013.

You can read the Legends Spotlight special that I previously posted on Bruno at  http://wnwlegends.blogspot.com/2013/01/bruno-sammartino.html
